Bolton 3-1 Liverpool

Liverpool came to Reebok Stadium with an offensive line-up, but Bolton got the first goal after just four minutes. The Liverpool defense played really bad and no one stepped up to do the job, so Mark Davies could score the goal. It was a really bad start for Liverpool and a really good one for Bolton.

Both teams played well and offensively so the game was very open with lots of counter attacks and high speed on the sides. Bellamy made good runs for Liverpool and Andy Carroll actually succeeded to give him some good crosses. Maxi Rodriguez also played quite well on the left side and also made some good runs and got some good crosses, though he was a bit invisible in big parts of the game.

Steven Gerrard played in an offensive position behind Andy Carroll and that is the position I think he should always play in. He has a great shot and the attacking players need the quality crosses and passes that he can give.

Bolton got the second goal too and the scorer was Reo-Coker. That happened in the 29th minute. Liverpool didn’t defend very badly, but it wasn’t good defending either and they did too little to stop Bolton from scoring.

The teams were quite equal in possession, but Bolton looked far more dangerous when they got the ball and they played better overall both defensively and offensively. This game Liverpool really were in need of a good defensive midfielder like Lucas who could help the back line, because they really didn't play as good as usual.

In the 37th minute Bellamy got a great cross from Carroll and he managed to get the ball in the net. That gave some sense of hope to the team and it looked a bit better for a little while.

The last thing that happened in the first half was that Bolton got a free kick in a really dangerous position, but Reina made a good save. If the ball had gone in it would really have felt like the game was over.

As the second half started Bolton looked even better than in the first half and they got an early goal in the 50th minute. It was a really hard shot by Steinsson that went straight into the left bottom corner. Reina had no chance to save it and Bolton led by three goals to one.

Not much of interest happened after that and in the 64th minute Liverpool made a double change as Kuyt and Downing came on for Maxi and Adam. The team didn't play much better after that and it felt like Bolton was closer to scoring a fourth goal than Liverpool was to score their second.

Agger shot the ball hard into the crossbar from long distance, but not much more happened and the game ended in a 3-1 win for Bolton who played really well. They owned the game from the beginning till the end.

It was a shit game from a Liverpool-fan point of view and I’m so tired of losing to bottom half teams. We had a great chance to move up the table and get closer to the fourth place that we want to reach so badly, but we didn’t take the chance. The only Liverpool player who played well was Bellamy and thas is just not enough. I really think that we need to buy some good players now to have any chance at all to reach our goals.

Kenny's words after the game: "Some of those players won't be in Red shirts much longer if they carry on playing that way. It was disrespectful." I can't do anything else than to agree with him.
