Liverpool-Stoke Preview

In just a few minutes Liverpool is going to take on Stoke home at Anfield. This game last season ended in a 2-0 win for the reds after goals by Raul Meireles and the debuting Luis Suarez.

Liverpool haven’t lost a game at Anfield this season, but they have been struggling to get the goals and for that reason many teams from the bottom half of the league table have been able to get a point with them home. They have had a hard time to score over all so far this season, but they recently scored three goals against Newcastle and five against Oldham.

In the last meeting between the two clubs Stoke won by one goal to nil after a penalty kick by John Walters.

Liverpool will have to be focused and play good defensively. Especially when Stoke gets set pieces, because the Stoke players are big guys and they are really good with their heads. I guess Stoke will play with lots of long balls, but I don't think Liverpool will do that since they don't have Carroll on the pitch. I think they will focus on the passing with Steven Gerrard back in the middle.

The game is Kenny Dalglish’s 50:th game as Liverpool coach since he took the job almost exactly one year ago. And if the team scores four goals it will be the 500:th goal under Kenny rule in total.

The Liverpool line up today is: Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Carragher, Coates, Enrique, Henderson, Gerrard, Adam, Downing, Kuyt

The Liverpool bench: Aurelio, Carroll, Doni, Shelvey, Kelly, Flanagan, Bellamy

The Stoke line up: Sörensen, Woodgate, Huth, Shawcross, Wilson, Delap, Palacios, Whelan, Etherington, Walters, Crouch

The Stoke bench: Begovic, Fuller, Pennant, Jones, Wilko, Deano
