Liverpool - Carling Cup Winners

Wow, what a game that was. It was horrible most of the time, one of those games when you just want to turn the TV off and forget about football. But I didn’t turn the TV off and now we are Carling Cup winners. I know I would have regretted it a lot if I hadn’t seen the game so I’m lucky I did.

I saw the game at O’Learys together with a lot of other Liverpool fans. I didn’t know anyone and I still don’t because I didn’t talk much. I was so focused on the game and my mood went up and down like I don’t know what and most of the time it felt bad because we didn’t play good. We never reached our highest level or anywhere near that and Cardiff played really well.

In the beginning of the game we had a few chances but we didn’t get the ball in. Instead it was Cardiff who got the first goal and that was after 19 minutes or something like that. Liverpool equalized in the 60th minute after a goal by Skrtel (he just gets better and better) and for a little while it felt a bit better.

None of the teams managed to score another goal so the game went to extra time. The first one to score there was Dirk Kuyt, our Flying Dutchman. With just a few minutes left Cardiff scored and when they did it felt like we weren’t meant to win this cup. I almost felt depressed and I really didn’t think that we would win.

The game went to penalties and the first one to try his luck was Stevie Gerrard. He missed his penalty and my mood dropped even more. I didn’t watch the penalties because it was too exciting and scary, but I heard. When Cardiff missed their penalty too the atmosphere in the room went up a bit, but then Charlie Adam shot his penalty miles above the goal the mood went down again. Cardiff scored their second goal and they were in the lead. Then it was Kuyt’s turn to shoot and he scored so when Cardiff missed their third penalty we were back on track again. Stewart Downing scored his penalty and Cardiff equalized. Then it was time for Glen Johnson to take Liverpool’s last penalty and that really didn’t feel good. But he scored and it was a great penalty. The last one to shoot was Anthony Gerrard for Cardiff and he missed. Poor man.

When Anthony missed the penalty all the people in the room started to celebrate and it all got very loudly. It felt SO good and we really needed this victory. I don’t think we deserved to win because we didn’t play very good and Cardiff did, but I’m so happy we won. It will stay on my mind for some time now and hopefully help me through all the school work and things I have to do for the weeks to come. And it really was time for Liverpool to put something new to the trophy collection.

Come On the Reds

I'm so ready for the final! I'm going to see the game on a pub together with some other fans so I'm going to have a really good time (well, not if we don't win, but we will). It will be a tough game but if we can find our highest level there won't be any problems to beat Cardiff and take that trophy we want so badly. Come on the Reds!!

Cornerstone

Thought I saw you in the battleship
but it was only a look alike
She was nothing but a vision trick
Under the warning light
She was close, close enough to be your ghost
But my chances turned to toast
When I asked her if I could call her your name I thought

I saw you in the rusty hook
Huddled up in wicker chair
I wandered over for a closer look
And kissed whoever was sitting there

She was close, and she held me very tightly
Till I asked awfully politely, please
Can I call you her name

And I elongated my lift home,
Yeah I let him go the long way round
I smelt your scent on the seatbelt
And kept my shortcuts to myself

I thought I saw you in the parrots beak
Messing with the smoke alarm
It was too loud for me to hear her speak
And she had a broken arm

It was close, so close that the walls were wet
And she wrote it out in letraset
No you can't call me her name

Tell me where's your hiding place
I'm worried I'll forget your face
And I've asked everyone
And I'm beginning to think I imagined you all along

I elongated my lift home
Yeah I let him go the long way round
I smelt your scent on the seatbelt
And kept my shortcuts to myself

I saw your sister in the cornerstone
On the phone to the middle man
When I saw that she was on her own
I thought she might understand
She was close, well you couldn't get much closer
She said I'm really not supposed to but yes,
You can call me anything you want

The Way Back

Earlier today I was at a lecture and the lecturer was Joakim Öwre, a man who became paralyzed after a snowboard accident in 2001. Since then he has worked really hard to get back and now he can walk without any help and he has also been snowboarding short distances on his own.

After the accident he lay in a coma for four months before he woke up, and when he did he couldn’t move because his body didn’t listen to him. It has been a long way back but he hasn’t given up because he is a really strong and determined man. If I had just a tenth of his strength and determination I would get very far.

He is a true source of inspiration and when I heard him talk about his story I felt that I want to be better than I am, I want to see things in a more positive way and live in the present. I don’t only want it, I need it to enjoy the life, and that is another thing I have thought about after the lecture, that the life is very precious and wonderful.

If you want to know more about him and read about his amazing story you can go to his website http://backflip.se/svenska/Start.html.

Come On the Reds!

We have a really important game this evening against Spurs, we have to win to have any chance of reaching the fourth place in the league. Both teams will give everything and it will be a tough game. I hope that Kelly can take care of Bale, because I think he is the biggest threat to us, with his incredible pace.

I like that Kenny has picked Bellamy for the starting eleven, but I hope that Suarez will come on before the 75th minute or something like that, so he has time enough to do something. That is the only thing about Kenny as coach that worries me a bit, that it takes such a long time before he makes a change, especially if there is an obvious problem on the pitch that even I can see. But... in Kenny we trust.

I hope that it will be a good game with many chances and many goals, and of course that Liverpool wins. Come on the Reds!!

Anfield this evening!

Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

I think I have found just the right music style for me. Usually I just like one or a few songs by an artist and for that reason I have never really been a fan of a band or an artist, but now I have found a band that I can listen to hour after hour and there isn't a single song I don't like. Of course I have favourite songs, but I think all of their songs are good ones and that hasn't happened to me before. Anyway the band is Arctic Monkeys, and I fuckin' love them. My favourite songs are: Fluorescent Adolescent, Suck It And See, Black Treacle and Perhaps Vampires Is A Bit Strong But...

I love their texts, but I can't understand how they do it, there are so many weird lines that a normal person would never ever think of, and that is what makes the songs so brilliant. I love the way they use the instruments too and there are big differences between all the songs, but still a red line through them all.
